The Third Leg

I believe this, if you take away one of the legs the integrity of the stool suffers and it will become no longer useful.

Nowadays, there are people that believe that we should forget about the social conservatives and focus more on the other two legs. In other words, they believe that we should cut this leg off.

We have seemd to have won on the issue of abortion because the younger people are more anti-abortion then their parents and grandparents.

The problem comes on the other tenants of social conservatism.

Issues like that of gay marriage.

There are some on the left that wish it to be that everyone has the right to be married and that churches should be force to do the marrying even though the book on which the worshipers base their beliefs on says that homosexuality is wrong but is also a sin against God. The militants have taken it so far as to force owners of businesses who believe in Christ to do things that are against their beliefs.

The people who want to cut off the third leg of the sool believe that the issue is settled and that gay marriage can not be stopped.

I think that politically, the progressives beleve that they can use issues like this to fracture the conservative movement thus destroying this movement and leaving no one in the way to stop their march to a progressive utopia.
